Morninglory Persians: Oberon's Day out

Well, I knew something important was happening because I had a bath on Tuesday, and after that Mummy wouldn't let me out to check on my pond. (Luckily, my brother Hero was allowed out, so he kept an eye on my frogs and the squirrels, who are being very noisy and rumbunctious at the moment.)

All week Mummy was fussing with me - she called it "making me look pretty" - and then on Saturday morning - my BIG DAY - we got up early, had breakfast, and then I climbed into my carrier with Fish, my latest toy. It was dark and very foggy and Mummy played Westlife all the way up the motorway; I sang along at the top of my voice! Anyway, we met Auntie Louise in the carpark and she carried my Big Bags whilst Mummy carried me. (Auntie Louise said that I was probably heavier than the Big Bags - what a cheek!) The nice lady (I think her name was Bet) took me out of my carrier, and turned me upside down; she signed her autograph (she must be a famous Bet) and then Mummy and Auntie Louise took me into a HUGE hall and found my pen.

Luckily, Mummy had brought my favourite blue carpet, and she put it into my pen, and then hung up some hairy curtains so I had somewhere to hide. Then - I was SOOOO pleased - she took out my shoebox; it's my very favourite shoebox and I'd been hunting for it all morning. She put my shoebox into my pen, and I climbed in. It was just like being at home! Whilst I talked to Daisy - a very pretty white fluffball from Glasgow - and Ralph - a big butch red boy - Mummy put up my fairy lights; it was SOOO pretty and made me think I was out under the stars.... so I went to sleep......

I woke up when a VERY Nice Man came and put me back into my carrier - for a moment I thought I was being catnapped! - and we went to join Daisy and Ralph in small pens. There were lots of people standing around watching, so I went to sleep again....... when I woke up I was being picked up and a VERY Nice Lady played with me. I was a teeny, weeny bit scared (although I'm big I get scared if Mummy isn't there, and I couldn't see her) and the Nice Lady told me it was okay, and that I was very brave and that I could go back in my pen. So I did..... The Nice Lady came and sat in front of my pen and was writing with her pen and she wrote really nice things about me (Mummy read it to me.)

I went back to my starry pen with Mummy, had a cuddle, and went back to sleep again. A little bit later, Mummy Gail and Auntie Sue came to see me, and Auntie Sue brought me a mouse to play with. He was lovely, so I tucked him under my chin and went back to sleep.... (It's SOOOO tiring being a show cat.) but whatever happens in life you can always feel safe with Mummy!

Me with Mummy

This isn't as much fun as chasing frogs in my garden!

A bit later on, another Nice Lady took me back to another pen (Daisy and Ralph were there too, so I figured it was okay) and we re held up again by Another Nice Lady, who had a shiny badge on. After a while, we all went back to our pens, except Daisy; I was a bit worried about her, but Mummy said that she'd be back later. When I got back to my pen, I had a new neighbour - Daisy Mae - who I'd met at another show. It was great to see Daisy (she's blue) - but it turned out that she was in the wrong pen and her Mummy and Daddy took her back to her own pen, so Ralph and I were left on our own again.... and went back to sleep.

It was a really tiring day out; lots of people came to see me, and I got two new flower-things (Mummy calls them Rosettes) which I've stuck on my wall and something called a Grand Premier Certificate. When I got home I went straight out into the garden with Hero and Tinkerbell, and we sat by the pond discussing my Big Day. I think they were glad they hadn't gone, but I shared my new mouse and my Santa hat (which Mummy Gail gave me) with them.

I wouldn't want to go EVERY day, but my Big Day was fun, I made new friends (Daisy and Ralph), got lots of cuddles, and met some Very Nice People. Special thank you to Mummy's friend Louise for helping - after all every King needs an entourage.

My next big day was the North of Britain Longhair - it was such a blustery day I think I saw Winnie the Pooh go past - but that is another story! (see my wins)

Better just check that everything is still in order
