Monday: There are
clear signs that there’s something BIG happening …
- our big splashy-face water bowls have been moved! Mummy’s
put some tiddly, piddly ones down. No good for going diving in!
- the really big blowy dryer-thing has come out of the cupboard.
- no fish for supper (a sure sign that Mummy’s planning something;
we always have fish for supper on a Monday).
(Oberon’s
Mummy: Oberon’s approach to eating cooked fish
is to go face down into the bowl and get as much of it on his bib
and ruff as he can so fish is off the menu on show prep days.)
And….
OH NO!!! The cat-flap is closed! How will we get out into our garden
to check on the frogs, and the squirrels – and the fish in
my pond???
Tuesday Morning: The
game’s up…..Had my usual morning grooming (Mummy cleans
my eyes, combs me right-side up and sunny-side up) but then Mummy
started running the big bath. Had a LOVELY long soak (I do love
having a bath and I could stay in there all day; I gave Mummy lots
of kisses she got nearly as wet as I did). Then she put me in a
snuggly towel and we went downstairs to sit on the floor; I sat
underneath the big blowy dryer whilst Mummy combed out my coat and
tickled my feet. I was under there for ages…..then when I
was dry she powdered me all over and tickled my feet again.
Supper-time: Cat-flap’s still closed…. Oh no….
here she comes with the powder again. Combed again and more feet
tickling.
Wednesday: Morning
and evening routine: Eyes, combed right-side and sunny-side up,
powdered my coat and then tickled my feet. (Oberon’s
Mummy: It’s not tickling - I’m trying to
get his feet clean!) Cat-flap’s still closed, but Mummy
carried my out into the garden to inspect my pond. Everything’s
okay.
Thursday: Eyes,
combed, powdered and feet tickled three times today! Still no fish
for supper…..cat-flap’s still closed but I noticed that
Hero and Tinkerbell (my cousins) were allowed out to play for a
while.
Friday: Another
day of intensive tickling! Three times today but I must say, my
coat looks and feels beautiful and I’m getting quite excited!
My show carrier is in the hall, so I’ve spent the day inside,
checking it out. Still no fish for supper… !
